studios

Let's talk about shared space...

I would like to challenge everyones views on shared studio space. What do you think about open studios? Why do you feel you need a private studio vs. sharing a huge open space? Please discuss!

Columbia has its first green roof. Stephanie Lyons and Brian Pape are remodeling the old Diggs Packing plant into artists’ studios and loft apartments. Atop the roof, sedum is growing.

Architect Pape has designed all the green elements he can come up with into the building, but surely the most intriguing is the live plants on the roof.

Open Studio Promotion

We need to gather a list of artists interested in committing to the Open Studio option as soon as we are open to the public. The Open Studio It is our cheapest art studio rental and I think it has the potential to be the most personally rewarding option. Think about sharing large open spaces with other local talented artists and visiting artists who may be teaching a workshop or are part of our artist in residence program. You, as an artist, have so much more to gain by being "out there" working in the open. Anyway, enough of my opinions...

Here's the deal: We are running a pre-lease promotion for Columbia, MO artists. If you sign up by March 31st for the $99/mo - Open Studio Membership, you get 50%* off your 1st months rent AND a free locker rental for life to keep your supplies on-site for as long as you continually** rent space at The Warehouse Studios. What a steal! Hurry, this offer won't last long! If you are ready to commit, post a response here in the forum. All I need is a basic comment like, "Hey, I'm interested..." or "Sign me up!" Feel free to keep your contact info out of the forum (for your privacy), your username will suffice (as long as you provided a legit email address when you registered your user name) for me to contact you.

How will spaces be assigned?

There will be a little first come, first serve...and a little sharing. I'm trying to make everyone happy, but the truth is that we are laying studios out now according to our list of pre-leased studios...and we are running out of space fast. Once we have made the effort to accommodate the pre-leasers, we will layout the remaining spaces to best serve as many artists as we possibly can. We feel the open studio membership will be a popular choice.
