MICHAEL PETTIT: FIGURATIVE PAINTINGS - Part 1 of Pettit's double exhibition at the AVA, AND LYRICAL ABSTRACTS - Part 2 will be held at the Joao Ferreira Gallery. Michael Pettit will show his new paintings in a double exhibition at two Cape Town galleries in October, his figurative works at the AVA and opening two days later his lyrical abstracts at the Joao Ferreira Gallery.

Dennis Jones ...just the tip... (2008-09-27 - 2008-10-25)
Dennis Jones will be featured in a one person exhibition titled ...just the tip... at The College for Creative Studies Center Galleries, in Detroit from September 27 through October 25, 2008. A closing reception will be held Friday, October 24th. The exhibition consists of 301, 11'x14" charcoal drawings along with an audio cd of my reading aloud each drawing. This body of work continues to grow and now includes nearly 700 drawings. This new series of drawings focuses on the discourse that takes place between the artist and the work at hand.

Maria Lassnig: Preeminent Austrian Painter's First US Exhibition (2008-09-27 - 2009-01-11)
The Contemporary Arts Center presents a solo exhibition of vibrantly colorful, dramatically intense oil paintings by Austrian artist Maria Lassnig. Initiated and organized by the Serpentine Gallery in London and curated by Julia Peyton-Jones and Hans Ulrich Obrist in association with Rebecca Morrill, the exhibition features work made during the most recent ten years of Lassnigs career, as well as seven films made between 1971 and 1992. Maria Lassnig opens to the public September 27, 2008.

Local Modern Realist painter Tony M. Baker will be displaying and selling his acrylic on canvas work "City Place West Palm" which has been selected for the upcoming exhibition Ar(t)chitectural Attitude at the Palm Beach International Airport. The exhibit is presented by Palm Beach County Art in Public Places. The exhibition will run from Sept 24, 2008 to Feb 4, 2009. It will be located in the Main Terminal Level 2. Tony is a member of the Wellington Art Society and The Art Alliance of Jupiter and has been a Portfolio Member at absolutearts.com since 2007.

Down Town Production: An Exhibition of Chinese Urban Art (2008-09-24 - 2008-11-21)
Down Town Production is a fiercely dynamic group show bringing cutting-edge, urban Chinese art to the UK. Curated by one of Chinas leading artists, Yan Lei, the exhibition brings together eight rising stars of contemporary Chinese art whose work reflects the recent dramatic social and economic transformation of China. It is anticipated that 70% of Chinas 1.3 billion population will live in urban areas by 2035. At the end of 2002, records showed that Chinas urban population totalled 502 million, living in over 21,000 towns and cities.

THE SKIN SHE WEARS: First Solo Exhibition in Europe for Pakistani Artist (2008-09-24 - 2008-10-25)
Rossi and Rossi are delighted to be staging the first solo exhibition in Europe of work by Naiza H. Khan, an acclaimed Pakistani artist who lives and works in Karachi and whose work has been exhibited to much acclaim there as well as in Dubai, Hong Kong, Islamabad, Mumbai and New York. The Skin She Wears will comprise some 15 recent sculptures and drawings and will take place at 16 Clifford Street, London W1, from 24 September to 25 October 2008.
